The Youth Programs Manager at CEJ took a big step towards a greener future by kick-starting the Think Environment campaign in collaboration with YMCA Lusaka branch at Kamwala South Secondary School.
The talk was attended by an enthusiastic group of Grade 12 and 11 students, with a total of 26 children present. The aim was to raise awareness about the environment and inspire young minds to take action.
The session began with an introduction to the importance of our environment, highlighting how it sustains us and provides a habitat for countless species. The manager then seamlessly incorporated the theme of World Environment Day, focusing on the urgent need to combat plastic pollution.
♻ The students were engaged as they learned about the three Rs: “Reuse, Reduce, Recycle.” They discovered practical ways to reduce plastic waste in their daily lives and explored creative ways to repurpose items that would otherwise end up in landfills. Turning trash into cash became an exciting prospect for everyone!
Furthermore, the talk emphasized the promotion of a green economy, where sustainable practices can not only protect the environment but also create jobs and opportunities for future generations. It’s a win-win for both nature and our communities!
The Think Environment campaign aims to empower young minds to become environmental champions, ensuring a better future for our planet. By inspiring the youth, we can drive positive change and build a more sustainable world together!
